The colourful and diverse mix of industries in Leicester and Leicestershire present a key selling point of the region’s advantageous commercial offer. Historically it is well-known for strengths in traditional industries such as knitwear, printing and manufacturing. But over the years as technology has advanced, newer, modern industries have emerged bringing with them a progressive and innovative edge, propelling the traditional trades forward. Regional, cross-border business clusters have also begun to form, particularly in hi-tech sectors including life sciences, advanced manufacturing, space and space technologies, low carbon and energy efficiency, further enhancing the rich inward investment proposition.

 

The 2020 Business Festival programme is structured to reflect the strengths of the region and to maximise the opportunities that Business Festival sector alignment presents. Each sector is led by at least one, well-known local professional who is a leader in their field and well-placed to champion the sector and the Business Festival’s opportunities on a local, national and global level. The LBF Board members are also working with sector leads in a supportive capacity to ensure that the messages and aims of the Festival seamlessly translate across the sectors.
